SpaceSniffer gives users an accurate picture of how the space on their hard drives is being used. The program uses images of boxes in various sizes to illustrate which files and folders are taking up the greatest amount of space on a given directory. The size of each box is determine by how much space that particular file is occupying.

In order to see the contents of a specific file, the user need only double click the square that represents that folder. The best aspect of SpaceSniffer is that this information is constantly being updated and presented to the user in real time. When the user removes an existing file or downloads a new one to a directory, the boxes for that directory change sizes to illustrate the current distribution of hard drive space.

While the representation provided by SpaceSniffer is quite helpful when trying to determine which files are taking up the most space on the computer's hard drive, the image can be too much to process visually. To help alleviate this problem, SpaceSniffer offers the option of customizing the colors and animations of the boxes. This allows users to make the results easier to understand at a glance for them personally. Unfortunately, there is currently no way for users to generate reports that summarize the results.

SpaceSniffer really stands out among disk space analyzers. In an effort to continually make the program better, the creators of SpaceSniffer have listened to their customers' feedback and have regularly made changes to improve the program's performance.
